Cycling and walking

Cycling

Bicycles and mountain bikes are available for hire and there are many fairly easy and interesting day-trips to be made around Nafplion and Kantia. In the immediate vicinity of Kantia there are many suitable routes for cyclists.

Mountainous or more level areas

Inland from the sea the land is mountainous, which means it could be a challenge for the experienced and adventurous cyclist. But there are easier trips that can be taken in more level areas. The valleys of Kantia and that of the neighbouring village of the area are very suitable for the less adventurous cyclists. In fact the entire area around Napflion, Argos and Mycene is fairly level and offers the enthusiastic cyclist a wide variety of possibilities.

Bike rental

At Zoom we have a number of ladies 5-speed bikes for hire. The costs are € 7,50 per day, € 4,50 for half a day and € 50,- per week. If desired, we can also rent mountain bikes for you. These costs € 12,50 per day.

Groups

If you are interested in coming with a group of friends and want to cycle, then we also can arrange for our mini-bus to take cyclists and bikes to either the start of their tour or to pick them up at the end. This would mean longer one-way only trips without having to re-travel some parts of the outward journey.

Such an arrangement would naturally mean that you would also enjoy our very pleasant location, the delicious meals and all other amenities offered by Miniati. Contact us for further information.

Walking

There are a number of very nice walks around Kantia. Depending on how far and for how long you want to walk we can give our guests information on many very delightful walks.

You might take a walk of about an hour along the beach and return through fields of artichokes, courgettes and melons, then cross the road through the village and back to the hotel. Another short walk is through the valley of Kantia to see a deserted marble quarry.

There are also a number of much longer walks which you could take on your ‘free’ days.

One of these is a half-day trip to the old (unoccupied) monastery of Saint Dimitrius or  ‘Avgo’. This name means literally ’the egg’ and is taken from an anecdote on ‘Faith in heavenly powers’. This walk takes you through the valley of Karnezeika to the monastery which is built high against the cliff face where you get a fantastic view down through the valley to the sea.
